Our categories:
- Queer: Queer and FLINTA+ stories that celebrate difference and fight discrimination.
- Activisms: Stories of feminist-led activism around the world that imagine and demand social change.
- Radical Care: Stories of women who open new possibilities against injustice through collective resistance and radical tenderness.
- Berlin Migrant: Films by migrant directors living in Berlin who bring a feminist and intersectional perspective.

Besides the main festival, we organize events throughout the year to strengthen community ties.

The dates and the call for applications for each side event will be published at the beginning of each year. An online form will need to be completed and announcements will be made via our social media channels.

Rules & Terms
Is VWFF competitive? What do I get if I’m selected?
No, VWFF is non-competitive, so there are no physical or monetary awards. Instead, we offer:
- A curated space for screening and discussion
- Visibility for your film and your work on our social media
- Dialogue and networking within a queer and feminist framework
Who can submit?
Your film must be directed by a Queer or FLINTA+ person, or at least 50% of the crew must be Queer or FLINTA+. The registration form must be filled out by the copyright holder.
What kinds of films do you accept?
Shorts of up to 20 minutes. Fiction, documentary, experimental, animation, music video, video poetry, and more are all welcome, as long as they fit our curatorial framework.
Do I need English subtitles?
Yes. All films are screened in their original language with English subtitles, even if the film is already in English. This is an obligatory measure for accessibility and inclusivity. Applicants provide the subtitles, though you only need them if your film is selected.
What do I need to submit?
Now:
- Apply via https://filmfreeway.com/viertewelleff
- A viewing link (Vimeo, YouTube, etc.). If it’s private, please include the password.
We use this link only for the selection process.
If your film is selected, we’ll ask for:
- The screening copy of your film
- English subtitles
- Press materials: photos and social media info
How does selection work?
If your film is selected, we’ll write to you well in advance so you have enough time to prepare your screening copy.
Is there a fee?
The submission fee is 5 €. You can waive it with the code on our FilmFreeway page.
Some other things to know:
- We don’t pay screening or copyright fees.
- We can’t accept films that generate fees, taxes, or additional charges.
Will you use my film to promote the festival?
Yes. By submitting, you let us use excerpts of up to 2 minutes for non-profit promotion (television, social media and other channels) during the festival and related events. Selected films may also be used to promote future VWFF events. Copyright always stays with you.
We also ask directors and producers to share the festival on their own social media. It really helps us!
Side events

Terms
Submitting to VWFF means you’ve read and accepted these rules. The organizers will resolve any exceptions, questions, or conflicts.
