CUIR PRIDE - 16___25 July 2026

Thursday 16 July

Shortfilms Program

at 8PM in Lichtblick Kino

Cuir Pride is more than a screening. It’s a political gesture and a meeting point for the Latin American “cuir” community in Berlin. A space to find each other, share our stories and build networks through cinema.

To say cuir, not queer, is to reclaim a word from the South, from migration, from our own bodies, desires and memories. The fourth wave of feminism takes up the struggle of LGBTQ+ and FLINTA+ artists who were silenced, marginalized or erased from the big screen and makes room for the new voices making their mark in film.

Because our images matter, now more than ever, as a rising right tries to deny our existence again. Because seeing ourselves together in a cinema is still a form of resistance. We share, we educate and we bring visibility to cuir and FLINTA+ filmmakers from Latin America. Against forgetting. Against hate. By those who came before, for those who come after.

Friday 17 July

Vernissage of the exhibition “Unhousing: an enclave for queer utopia”

at 7PM in Bardo Projektraum

The exhibition understands the house as a symbolic structure: the body, the family, the country of origin, the territory one migrates to, or the cultural system we inhabit. When these structures limit the expanded existence of dissident identities, a process of unhousing is activated: the disarticulation of spaces that exclude in order to imagine new forms of belonging. Through nine pieces, the project materializes the rupture of the “normative house,” proposing images that challenge hegemonic narratives around home, identity, displacement, and belonging. In this sense, migration and queer experience appear not only through loss or uprootedness, but also as political and creative forces capable of reconfiguring community, present, and future.

Saturday 18 July

Film Screening: Silence is a falling body

at 8PM in Lichtblick Kino

By Agustina Comedi

Through more than one hundred hours of home videos filmed by her father, Agustina Comedi reconstructs an intimate and political story shaped by desire, sexuality, silence, family, and freedom.

Friday 24 July

Finissage of “Unhousing: an enclave for queer utopia” + CUIRTECA Presentation.

at 7PM in Bardo Projektraum

CUIRTECA is an archive of Latin American cuir cinema: a research project that gathers, catalogs, and makes visible the films that told our stories, so often under censorship, so often from the margins. From the first cuir representations of the 1920s to the cinema of today, the archive recovers a memory that was denied to us.

Created by Gabriela Gioia, CUIRTECA is an open and growing archive. This presentation is an invitation to explore it together and to keep building it collectively.

A living archive. Memory in dispute. A future under construction.
