TALK: Casting as a Creative Act

with Roberto Matus

A one-hour industry lecture by Chilean casting director Roberto Matus, exploring casting as a deeply creative and collaborative process within film.

With extensive experience in audiovisual productions, Matus has worked closely with directors and producers across numerous casting processes, developing a refined understanding of what is sought in auditions and how performers can stand out in professional environments. In March, he returns to Berlin to lead intensive camera acting workshops and will deliver this special lecture as part of Vierte Welle Film Festival.

at 6PM

in Hotel Gat Point Charlie

An evening to connect, celebrate, and set the tone for the festival weekend ahead.

We are pleased to welcome:

Opening + Networking Event

The official opening of Vierte Welle Film Festival marks the beginning of a new edition dedicated to queer cinema, artistic exchange, and community building.

Following the industry lecture with Roberto Matus, the venue will transition into an informal networking evening, a space for filmmakers, performers, producers, and cultural workers to meet beyond the screening room, exchange ideas, and initiate new collaborations.

14 March: Screening

Berlin Migrant category

at 6PM + Q&A with Directors

in Lichtblick Kino

“…This curatorial project proposes listening to, seeing, and understanding Berlin from the perspective of filmmakers who film it as a territory traversed by expectations, desires, and imaginaries that confront grief and resistance. Rather than representing Berlin as a static image, the city appears as a space of friction: refuge and border, freedom and censorship, integration and exclusion…” by Dalila Muñoz

Activisms category

at 8PM + Q&A with Directors

in Lichtblick Kino

“…Perhaps this is the most eclectic selection in the short history of my curatorial work at Vierte Welle, but I believe in it. And I do so because I believe in the intention of the filmmakers to show us images that place us within territories, bodies, and realities. In the face of horror, intimate stories; in the face of indifference, a reminder of how much life is worth…” by Inmensidades

15 March: Screening

Radical Care category

at 4PM + Q&A with Directors

in Lichtblick Kino

“…Through this category we want to share stories of women who come together and interlace to resist and confront the different forms of struggle, violence, and discrimination to which we are exposed. In this selection we will find many interwoven networks, some broader, communal, and extensive, and others more intimate, which, like timid braids, sustain and care for one another, resisting against the dynamics of injustice and generating possibilities for transformation...” by Virginia Viñoles

Queer category

at 6PM + Q&A with Directors

in Lichtblick Kino

“…The films selected this year in the Queer category formally and thematically question sexual orientation, gender identity, community, sexuality, and pleasure. Through their images and sounds, they present bold, necessary, and celebratory explorations of our lives and communities....” by Ignacio Juricic
